  There are people, usually women in Mexican and Latin American folk healing, who specialize in prayer and ritual work—such as limpias (spiritual cleansings), La obradora is a medium who channels spirits belonging to specific spiritual commissions (las comisiones) to perform la obra de la luz ("work of the light").
