Curanderismo

---

"Curar" means to cure. The curandero/a is a person of wisdom and knowledge that uses folk healing. Curanderismo is said to originate from Mayan, Inca and Aztec tradition of belief system and practices incorporating the physical, mental and spiritual. Lack of balance or harmony, is believed to cause illness and so the curandero can move this through various practices and rituals. Practices vary from practitioner to practitioner as colonization is a mixture of cultures and beliefs including Catholic prayer, mediumship and espiritismo, (Spiritism). My blood lineage is of Peruvian, Mexica (Meshica) and African traditions. I use traditional indigenous healing systems to support and compliment contemporary medical treatments.
